Working on the imagistic and conceptual framework of “adam and eve” depictions in visual arts, we propose to deconstruct contemporary society, while also interrogating the function of art/artists within society.
Playing with profane images and highly recognizable situations (two persons, usually a male and a female, a tree, a snake and an apple) juxtaposing them with contemporary elements of life (fashion elements, e-scooters, etc.) we propose to carefully articulate stances that humorously depict situations of young innocent love, caught in the vortex of capitalist desires.
After previously working on restaging Durer’s engraving from 1504, where we looked more into questioning the motive between our own artistic production and the entire mechanism of the art world, with our second chapter of this research project we focused on the image of Adam and Eve depicted in one decorative sculpture present in Stavanger Cathedral.
